FIELD: heat treatment, namely thermal fixation of piston rings with non-parallel end surfaces. SUBSTANCE: piston rings are subjected to heat treatment for imparting necessary shape to them. Said rings are packed in pairs on two separating inserts defining size of lock after heat treatment. Rings of each pair have mutual contact along their inclined end surfaces when locks are arranged diametrically opposite and lock portions are shifted outside by value equal to radial thickness of rings. Such pack is tightened at sides of outer ends of terminal rings by means of bolt and nut and stationary and movable plates. Said plates are provided with grooves for said separating inserts and mounted on said pack. Tightened pack is subjected to heat treatment. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of ring fixation. 3 cl, 4 dwg
