FIELD: examination and analysis of materials. SUBSTANCE: object being checked is moved by scanner and irradiated with fanshaped radiation beam, radiation passed through object is recorded by means of detector matrix. To obtain more detailed tomogram of local region inside object, number of operating detectors in matrix is reduced. This done, slow scanning is performed with scanning step decreased by K = D/Dl times, where D is size of object being checked; Dl is size of local region. Detector reading time is reduced by K times.
