FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention refers to electrolyser having casing and vertical contact rods for anode holding and feed of working current to it. Cover with holes for contact rods and one hole for release of gas as minimum is placed on top of casing of anode. Amount of gas removed from top of anode through hole for gas release is regulated with the help of creation of diminished pressure on top of anode and provision for passage of air through clearances between cover and each contact rod in such amount with which gas from top of anode does not go through these air clearances and temperature on top of anode is kept below preset level. In this case value of clearance between each of contact rods and holes in cover amounts to 1.0 to 10.0 mm which provides for passage of ambient air through clearances. EFFECT: enhanced cooling efficiency and functional reliability of electrolyser. 4 cl, 5 dwg
