SUBSTANCE: apparatus has cylindrical vessel with cover and branch pipes for supply of aerating gas and withdrawal of gaseous medium, and device for aeration and agitation of medium including horizontal paddle wheel secured to vertical hollow shaft and located in upper part of vessel directly under cover. Device for aeration and agitation has annular partition installed in vessel coaxial to paddle wheel to form gap between vessel cylindrical wall and annular partition, and mechanism for regulation of position of annular partition relative to the surface of cell suspension.
