FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: absorbing element comprises a shell, inside of which there is a neutron absorber, the first tip installed above the first part of the neutron absorber, comprising a tail part and a weighting part rigidly connected to each other, and the second tip installed under the second part of the neutron absorber connected to a shell by means of butt resistance welding. At the same time the ratio of the shell length 1 to the length of the absorbing element L makes from 0.7 to 0.9, and the ratio of the total mass of neutron absorbers m to the total mass of metal structures of the absorbing element M makes from 0.2 to 0.64.
EFFECT: higher uniformity of neutron absorber burning, which provides for the possibility of more accurate forecasting of its service life.
