METHOD OF TRANSPOSING ANODE PIN CONTACTS IN ALUMINUM ELECTROLYZER Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

Abstract RU 2104336 C1

FIELD: aluminum production. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to transposition of anode pin contacts in aluminum electrolyzer with double-level scheme of their disposition in anode. Method consists in periodically extracting the first group of pins and, at stated interval, the second group of pins of lower level and installing them, when cooled, on upper level. Transposition of the first group of pins is performed when distance from their lower ends to anode base is equal to value determined from following empirical equation: $$$ where $$$ is minimum distance between lower face of anode and pin ends of lower level, mm; $$$ coefficient of proportionality varying over 16.55-33.11 range; b anode width, mm; v intake rate of carbon body of anode, mm/h; T interval between the beginnings of two adjacent transpositions of first groups of lower-level pins, hours; d diameter of cylindrical part of pin, mm. Transposition of the second group of pins is performed when distance from their lower ends to anode base is equal to value calculated from following equation: $$$ where t is stated interval between the beginnings of transpositions of the first and second groups of lower-level pins ranging from 18 to 30 h. EFFECT: optimized pin contacts' transposition procedure.
