FIELD: transport engineering; construction and road building vehicles and other vehicles furnished with drum-and-shoe brakes. SUBSTANCE: cooling system is installed on rim of brake drum 1 in its rectangular recess and is provided with semiconductor elements with n - and p-type conduction. These elements are connected in series and are isolated by heat insulating inserts. Connection on hot junction of semiconductor elements is provided directly by surface of rim of brake drum 1, and on cold junction, by means of plates on which heat sinking ribs are mounted. These elements form thermopile. Proposed invention provides high efficiency of cooling increasing with rise of heat load on brake drum as simultaneously specific electric conductivity of thermopile semiconductor elements rises. EFFECT: improved operating parameters of brake and increased service life of its friction pairs owing to intensification of their cooling. 2 dwg
