FIELD: mechanical engineering; road-building machines and other transport facilities. SUBSTANCE: brake is based on thermoelectric effect and thermal tube effect. Cooling system is made in form of thermal battery mounted in heat conducting insert isolated from brake block body by means of dielectric. Mounted in recess of heat conducting insert are semiconductor elements of n-type and p-type conductance which are connected in series and are separated by means of heat insulation. Upper ends of elements form hot junction together with material of insert, cold junction being formed by cold zone of thermal tube. Brake possesses high efficiency of cooling which increases with rise of thermal loading of heat-conducting insert due to abrupt rise of specific electric conductance of semiconductor elements of thermal battery. EFFECT: improved operational parameters of brake; increased service life of friction pairs through intensification of cooling. 2 dwg
