FIELD: plastic metal working; may be used in production of wire including bimetallic wire. SUBSTANCE: initial product is taken in the form of band material. Band thickness is taken minimum required for production of wire of the present diameter. Band blank is cut along its length into strips. Before drawing, each strip is rolled up to obtain pipe. Bimetallic wire is produced from bimetallic band. In this case strips produced by band longitudinal cutting are rolled up into pipe with better conducting layer located outside. EFFECT: reduced number of drawing operations, discarded intermediate annealing, simultaneous working of a large number of strips and provision of production of hollow wire. 2 cl, 8 dwg
