FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: in compliance with first variant layer of oxygen-carrying compound of boron in which capacity boric anhydride or boric acid in terms of boric anhydride in the amount of 10.0-24.0 kg per sq.m of surface of interunit joints is applied on surfaces of interunit joints before mounting of anode. In agreement with second variant layer of carbon-carrying material in which capacity coal-tar pitch or phenol resin in the amount of 20.0-45.0 kg per sq.m of surface of interunit joints is applied to surfaces of interunit joints before application of oxygen-carrying compound of boron prior to installation of anode. In this case leakages in interunit joints are filled with spinels of type mAl2O3•nB2O3 in accordance with first variant and spinels and carbon-containing material of lower part of leakages of interunit joints in agreement with second variant that are refractory and chemically resistant to melts and protection of lining against penetration of melts under coal lining and to current-carrying rods and further on into heat insulation socle is provided. EFFECT: increased quality of aluminium, reduced consumption of electric energy by 197-261 kwh per ton for production of electrolytic aluminium, prolonged service life of electrolyzer by 115-214 months, improved brand of aluminium from A6 to A7. 5 cl, 2 tbl
