FIELD: aluminum production by electrolysis method. SUBSTANCE: method involves supply of alumina, salt fluorines, and boron-containing additives in anodic mass composition to electrolyzer. In order to maintain boron content in aluminum not to exceed 0.01 mass percent, content of boron-containing additive in anodic mass composition is maintained between 0.030 and 0.150 mass percent. Boron-containing additive is pre-crushed to size not over 500 mcm. Proposed method provides for cleaning aluminum from admixtures of heavy metals and for forming aluminum wetted layer of refractory compounds possessing high corrosion resistance, high strength, and electrical conductance on electrolyzer carbon lining surface.
