FIELD: thermal power plants burning ballast-laden coals. SUBSTANCE: furnace has partition wall 2 that divides it into central and peripheral combustion chambers 3 and 4, respectively, which communicate through top and bottom transfer ports 5 and 6 level with burners 8 and air nozzles 9 installed therein. Bottom transfer port 6 is partially closed with platens 10 and 11 covered with armor plates 18. Platens are installed in a spaced relation and space between them accommodates nozzles 9 which are fixed to platens. Mouth of nozzles 9 is secured on adjacent panel walls 7. Platens 10 and 11 are inclined towards central combustion chamber 3 and their short ends are fixed in panel walls 7 while platen axes are parallel to partition wall 2. Coarsely dispersed coal dust is fed to burners 8, heated in combustion chamber 4, and pulverized on armor plates 18; then it is caught by air coming from nozzles 9 and finally burns up in central combustion chamber 3 intertriary air jets discharged from nozzles 17. EFFECT: accelerated combustion of ballast laden coals due to heat treatment and thermal pulverizing. 2 dwg
