FIELD: mechanical engineering; belt-and-shoe brakes of draw works. SUBSTANCE: brake has pulley whose working surface engages with metal friction linings of brake belt, cooling system made in form of semiconductor rods with n- and p- type junctions, and heat sinks. Some ends of semiconductor rods are arranged in pulley body flush with its working surface forming hot junction with the surface, and other ends rest on insulating layers behind which flat heat sinks with cross ribs are located.
