FIELD: artificial diamonds. SUBSTANCE: diamond monocrystals are prepared in superhigh-pressure apparatus using temperature gradient technique. Method involves preliminarily saturating metal catalyst with carbon such as that, under specified velocity of temperature rise in reaction zone with selected alloy-solvent, seed on which crystal grows would preliminarily dissolve to 30-70 vol %, which provides formation of quality diamond crystals. EFFECT: improved quality of crystals.
