FIELD: inorganic chemistry; may be used, in particular, in preparation of catalysts used for cleaning of gas mixtures from carbon monoxide in systems of collective and individual protection of human respiratory organs and in industrial effluent gases, exhaust gases of internal combustion engines and for some other industrial and environmental control purposes. SUBSTANCE: method includes electrolysis of solution containing manganese sulfate and free sulfuric acid with subsequent treatment of obtained deposit of manganese dioxide with solution of alkali with concentration of 5-15 wt. -% at temperature of 50-90 C for 1.5-5.0 h. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 1 tbl
