FIELD: transport engineering; road and water vehicles; stationary power generating plants. SUBSTANCE: mechanism converting reciprocating motion of engine piston into rotary motion of shaft consists of pistons arranged in cylinder and kinematically coupled through connecting rods with engine main shaft. Internal gear train is installed in big end of connecting rod of each cylinder-piston group. Gear of gear train is mounted on main shaft, and gear wheel is made in hole of connecting rod big end. Gear wheel has sections of different curvature, for instance, oval, whose side toothed surfaces have smaller curvature and can be made even straight-line for alternate engagement with gear. Upper and lower surfaces of hole of connecting rod big end are made with larger curvature not exceeding curvature of gear tooth points. Gear of gear train has cam made on side opposite to its working teeth and alternately engaging with stops in process of operation. Stops are installed in parallel with toothed side surfaces providing forward and back stroke of piston. Upper and lower curvilinear surfaces of hole of connecting rod big end are made smooth. Upper surface is extension of point of extreme tooth of side surface providing forward stroke of piston, and lower surface is extension of point of extreme tooth of side surface providing back stroke of piston.
