Abstract RU 2217613 C2

FIELD: transport and power engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used as power plants in road and water vehicles and as stationary engine for driving compressors, electric generators and other working machines and mechanisms. Proposed internal combustion engine contains cylinder block, mechanism converting reciprocating motion of pistons into rotation of crankshaft consisting of piston arranged in cylinders and mechanically coupled with engine main shaft through connecting rod and alternating internal meshing gear trains. Oval wheel of gear train whose inner surfaces, corresponding to longitudinal axis of wheel are made toothed, is placed between each pair of opposite cylinders. Surfaces corresponding to cross axes of wheel are made smooth. Wheel of gear train is hinge-coupled with connecting rods of pistons of two opposite cylinders. Shaft is installed in antifriction bearings mounted on supports of cylinder block. Alternating internal meshing gear train contains semigear one half of which is toothed and engaging alternately with toothed surfaces of wheel, and other part is smooth, with diameter not exceeding diameter of tooth spaces of semigear freely rotating relative to moving toothed surface of wheel. Extreme section of toothed surface of semigear getting out of meshing terminates in space changing into smooth section of semigear, its diameter not exceeding diameter of tooth spaces. Extreme section of toothed surface of wheel terminates in tooth whose point changes into smooth section corresponding to change of direction of wheel movement, its diameter not less that smooth section of semigear. Toothed section of semigear getting into meshing is made tangential to smooth surface of semigear and point of last tooth in meshing with wheel, extreme section of toothed surface of which being made with radius not less than radius of semigear tooth points. Stops provided on smooth surfaces of wheel are made, for instance in form of freely rotating roller engaging, in transition period, with cam made in slot of smooth surface of semigear, profile of cam corresponding to wheel movement. Invention increases efficiency of engine, improved reliability and provides longer service life and reduced specific metal usage and simplifies design owing to decrease of radial component of forces in cylinder-piston group at operation of engine and decrease of moving reciprocating masses and bringing to minimum number of movable joints.
