SENSOR OF SLEET LOADS Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

Abstract RU 2109386 C1

FIELD: electric power engineering, high-voltage power lines. SUBSTANCE: proposed sensor is used to check presence of sleet on wires with the aid of channels of teleautomatic and code-pulse signals. It incorporates sensitive element kinematically coupled to converter of movement to electric signal including coder in the form of small balls and contact device. Converter has own mobile case. It has current conductive balls mounted in special basket giving capability to change operation code. Reader of sensor houses current conductive element functioning as common wire and collector made of separate current conductive pads insulated one from another all arranged over arc and built into case of converter. Case of converter is filled with frost-resistant liquid medium, for example oil. Sensor allows both start of process of ice formation and dynamics of process in time to be registered.
