FIELD: chemistry of hetero-organic compounds, particularly, method for production of alkyl alumoxanes (among them unsolvable alkyl alumoxanes) which are used during organic synthesis as catalytic components. SUBSTANCE: method involves adding water into toluene solution of aluminium triisobutyl having concentration 3-20 mass %. The process is carried out at rate 2-8 g/h and at temperature from -5 C to +5 C, molar ratio of water and aluminium triisobutyl being 0.8-1.0. Reynolds number is maintained within 10000-150000 range. With the help of proposed method branched, linear or cyclic alumoxanes having predetermined preferable structure and controlled molecular weight may be prepared.
