FIELD: transport engineering; vehicles with combination power plants. SUBSTANCE: in proposed vehicle traction motor is supplied by contact system at normal operating conditions and by self-contained power unit at noncontact operating conditions. Self-contained power unit is made in form of traction storage battery. Electric motor receives power through matching device built around diodes. Provision is made for changing traction storage battery from contact system and recuperation of electric power at vehicle braking into storage battery. Coordination of operation of main components of electric drive is provided by control unit. EFFECT: improved operation reliability of electric drive with provision of wide operation range, no adverse effect on environment. 2 cl, 2 dwg
