FIELD: electrolytic treatment of water. SUBSTANCE: aqueous solutions containing organic substances and heavy metal ions are passed through porous carbon sorbent, the latter, with specific surface 10-1200 sq.m/g, being placed in electrolyzer-mass exchanger separated by non- conducting diaphragm into anode and cathode chambers. Electrolyte is passed through these chambers with velocity 100-300 mm/min: 0.1-10% mineral salt aqueous solution for cathode chamber and the same with 10-6- 10-8% of heavy metal salts added for cathode chamber. Using constant current source, carbon materials are electrochemically treated within 1-10 A/h density range for 30-90 min. Polarized carbon materials are washed for 5-10 min with water containing no organic and inorganic impurities and then, using voltmeter and reference electrode, one measures potential values Ect of polarized carbon materials. Ect=0.2- 0.4 V Ag/AgCl range for anodically modified sample and Ect=(-0.1)-(- 0.5) V Ag/AgCl range for cathodically modified sample testify readiness of the indicated materials to be applied. EFFECT: improved procedure. 2 cl, 1 dwg
