FIELD: refractory materials and metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention is intended to be used for manufacturing refractory materials for lining of oxygen converters, arc, open-hearth, induction, and cupola furnaces. Mass contains (in wt %): periclase powder, 70-95; alumino-magnesium spinel, 2-29.5; and chromospinelide fraction below 0.063 mm, 0.5-3.0. Such make-up makes it possible to reduce open porosity and area of refractory material impregnated by slag and metal. When burning technology for manufacturing refractory material is applied, above- indicated area is 1.7 and 2.2-fold diminished, and when burningless technology is applied, 2.2 and 2.8-fold, respectively. Make-up of invention results in increased deformation temperature and strength of manufactured refractory materials. Such materials are applicable in processes where corrosive basic slags are formed. EFFECT: improved working characteristics. 3 tbl
