FIELD: iodine production. SUBSTANCE: in particular, invention relates to isolation of iodine from naturally occurring materials: underground mineralized waters (brines) using ion-exchange resins. Method includes oxidation of iodide ion to elementary iodine, sorption of the latter on synthetic anionite, and desorption of iodine by an alkali solution. Method is distinguished by using weakly basic alkali-resistant anionite based on styrene- divinylbenzene copolymer or copolymer of acrylic monomers with divinylbenzene. Concentration of iodine in desorption solution is 250- 315 g/l. The fullness of iodine isolation from ionites is about 100%. EFFECT: increased of iodine isolation degree.
