FIELD: ion-exchange technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an ion-exchange technology for extracting iodine from natural brines. A method is proposed for extracting iodine from natural brines, including the stage of iodide ion oxidation, sorption of the resulting elemental iodine with a weakly basic anion exchanger, desorption of iodine from the anion exchanger and isolation of crystalline iodine from the desorbate, characterized in that an anion exchanger of a gel structure with a high exchange capacity is used as a weakly basic anion exchanger, which is a polycondensation product of polyethylene polyamine, ammonia and epichlorohydrin, containing secondary and tertiary amines as functional groups, with a predominant content of secondary ones, the pH of the solution is 3-7, the duration of sorption (contact of the anion exchanger with brine) is 10-30 minutes.
EFFECT: the proposed method allows to increase the efficiency of iodine extraction.
