FIELD: alternative power generation. SUBSTANCE: device has two closed-circuit metal shells (emitter and collector). Emitter is covered with thin layer of radioactive metal. Metal grid is placed in vacuum between emitter and collector. Grid is connected to high- voltage winding of step-up transformer fed from industrial power mains; emitter and collector are connected to primary winding of second step-down transformer whose secondary winding is connected to loads. Radioactive alpha- or beta- particles escape from emitter surface and flow to collector; in the process, high-voltage DC current starts flowing between emitter and collector which converts ac voltage across grid through transformer into commercial-voltage and commercial- frequency ac current. This current is conveyed to off-line loads or to common power mains. EFFECT: improved design. 1 dwg
