FIELD: silver-metal oxide material and method of its production; may be used in manufacture of electrical contacts. SUBSTANCE: method includes oxidation of alloy containing silver and dissolved metal selected from the group of metals forming oxide film under oxidizing conditions by heating and holding of alloy in oxidizing atmosphere. In this case, oxidizing atmosphere additionally contains halide in the amount sufficient for inhibition, formation of protective oxide film in alloy. The invention also covers silver-metal oxide material produced by this method. EFFECT: production of material with higher content of oxides in structure of solid solution in use of diffusion process of internal oxidation with high productivity due to destruction of oxide films by halide. 20 cl, 4 dwg
