FIELD: inorganic chemistry, more particularly preparation of catalyst used for removing carbon oxide from gas mixtures in systems of collective and individual protection of breathing organs and industrial discharges, for purifying exhaust gases of internal combustion engines and also for other industrial and nature protection purposes. SUBSTANCE: claimed method comprises thermal treatment of solid oxygen containing copper salt which is basic copper carbonate, and thermal treatment is carried out in atmosphere containing 85-98% by volume of steam.
