FIELD: organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: claimed method comprises polymerizing and copolymerizing olefins or diolefins in suspension in the presence of catalyst. Polymerization is carried out at temperatures from -40 C to 95 C and at pressure of 0.5-120 bar. Catalyst comprises metallocene and cocatalyst. Suspending agent includes low-boiling hydrocarbons and halogenated hydrocarbons. Reaction heat is withdrawn by cooling with condensed steam. Metallocene is compound of formula: (R¹R² ) M¹( R³R⁴) wherein M¹ is metal of IV(B), V(B) and VI(B) groups of periodic system; R¹, R² are the same or different and are hydrogen atom, -alkyl -alkoxy, -aryl, -aryloxy, -alkenyl, - arylalkyl, -alkylaryl, -arylalkenyl or halogen atom; R³ and R⁴ are the same or different and are mono or multinuclear hydrocarbon residue which together with M¹ central atom forms multilayer structure. During suspension polymerization of olefins using metallocene catalyst systems, reactor is cooled by steam condensation, and deposit on reactor is thus avoided.
