FIELD: nondestructive testing of thin- walled articles. SUBSTANCE: pulses of free elastic vibrations are excited in tested section of article, local zones of tested section are loaded acoustically, other vibrations are received and their frequencies are measured. Two measurements are conducted in sequence for each local zone: one without loading of zone and the other one with fixing of local zone in plane of article. Presence and location of defects are judged by sudden change of results in first and second measurements. Device for implementation of process has impact unit, detector of elastic vibrations and element of acoustic loading of local zone presenting hold circuit of local zone in plane of article manufactured in the form of permanent magnet placed on outer surface of article and ferromagnetic washer located in zone of magnet on inner surface of article. EFFECT: increased inspection sensitivity, enhanced productivity of inspection and diminished probability of damage to structure during inspection. 2 cl, 2 dwg
