FIELD: nondestructive testing; location of defects in structural members of beam- like structures by means of elastic vibrations. SUBSTANCE: proposed device includes sinusoidal vibration generator and vibrator for exciting flexural vibrations, vibration amplitude sensor mounted on surface of structure and connected to conversion unit, comparison unit and indicator through preamplifier; device includes also retainer of local zones of structure with permanent magnet located on outer surface of structure and ferromagnetic washer located on inner surface of structure in zone of magnet. Local zone retainer has non-magnetic housing with blind cylindrical cavity inside it; axis of this cavity is inclined at acute angle relative to longitudinal axis of structure. Permanent magnet is made in form of cylinder placed in cavity for motion along its axis and spring- loaded relative to bottom of cavity. Housing is provided with pins freely received by holes available in ferromagnetic washer for displacement of housing and washer in way of their mutual approach and departure perpendicularly to longitudinal axis of structure.
