FIELD: radio engineering. SUBSTANCE: proposed azimuth meter by amplitude selection is intended to measure azimuth in surveillance radars with scanning antennas. With passing of antenna beam through target there is formed burst of reflected pulses which amplitude repeats radiation pattern of antenna. Selects are formed from sequence of amplitudes of reflected pulses and values of azimuth corresponding to them. In each select values of azimuth differ by angle of shift equal approximately to width of radiation pattern of antenna. In adjacent selects azimuthal elements are apart one from another by angle of travel of antenna over time interval of measurement of signal amplitude. Azimuthal interval of direction to target is determined in each select, amplitudes have maximum values on boundaries of this interval. Target azimuth is found by values of azimuth on boundaries of this intervals and by corresponding values of signal amplitudes. EFFECT: improved precision of determination of target azimuth. 7 dwg
