FIELD: wood and metal cutting industries, construction industry. SUBSTANCE: cutting members in split milling cutters are deformed with anchoring. Value of their deformation is specified in region of elasticity of tool material in limits: for hard alloys from 0.05 up to 0.1%, for high-speed steels from 0.9 up to 1.5%, for alloyed steels from 1.0 up to 1.25%. In this case compression stresses are formed in structures of tool materials. This prevents intensification of crack formation and diminishes share of microflakings in total balance of wear. Positive effect of invention consists in increased durability of tool while bending deformation of its cutting members is used grows by 35-40% on the average as compared with known processes of increase of durability.
