FIELD: general mechanical engineering; applying coats to surfaces of machine elements and cutting tools. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes layer-by-layer galvanic deposition of material of coat in magnetic field; used as material of coat are magnetically susceptible metals whose crystal lattice ensures required mechanical properties of coat; magnetizing is performed above point of magnetic saturation of element at direction of intensity vector from parallelism of surface being coated to parallelism to vector of operating load at static delay in each position determined by the following formula: T=1.2-h/I, where h is thickness of coat layer withstanding definite kind of deformation, mm; I is intensity of process of applying coat, mm/min.
