FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: method includes air intake into cylinder at first stroke, compression at second stroke, injection of fuel into compressed air, ignition and combustion of fuel and expansion of combustion products at third stroke, additional compression of combustion products and particles of noncombusted fuel and injection of liquid into above-piston space at fourth stroke, vaporization of liquid and afterburning of fuel particles at fifth stroke, and discharge of combustion products with particles of vapor into atmosphere oat sixth stroke. Liquid is injected into above-piston space at the end of fourth stroke. Neutralizing liquid or mixture of liquid with low-toxicity fuel is used for this purpose. Engine is furnished with nozzle to inject neutralizing liquid or mixture of liquid with low-toxicity fuel. Nozzle is of combination design to provide combined injection of fuel and neutralizing liquid or fuel and neutralizing liquid in mixture with low toxicity fuel.
