FIELD: swirl-chamber diesel engines. SUBSTANCE: diesel engine includes cylinder, piston with combustion chamber, cylinder head with intake and exhaust passages and valves with guides and bushes, swirl combustion chamber in cylinder head, connecting passage between swirl chamber and above-piston space in cylinder and injector. Air passage in form of slot in cross section is provided between swirl chamber and intake passage; axis of symmetry of this passage intersects with axis of intake valve whose bush is provided with through transverse port; guide of valve is provided with circular recess located above through transverse port in bush when valve is in closed position. In preferable version area of cross section of air passage is equal to 1.1 to 1.2 of minimum area of section of connecting passage. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 2 cl, 1 dwg
