PROCESS TESTING ALIGNMENT OF FIBRE-OPTICAL LIGHT GUIDES Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: optical systems of information transmission, laser equipment. SUBSTANCE: proposed process consists in comparison of coordinates of side boundaries or central axes of fibre-optical light guides obtained during computer processing of image generated by registration with the help of TV camera measuring radiation of luminous superemittance of laser amplifier that is reflected from light guides. To test alignment of light guides radiation of laser amplifier operating under mode of luminous superemittance is focused on welded light guides, radiation reflected from light guides is partially collected and directed via active medium of laser amplifier on to TV cameras. In this case spurious radiation of exposure caused by plasma of arc discharge during welding is not practically amplified by active medium of laser amplifier ensuring by that possibility of testing in process of welding. Optical shutter which is consistently opened and closed in step with frame frequency of TV camera is installed after lens uniaxially to it. Radiation of laser amplifier reflected from closed shutter is directed outside the limits of its aperture. Thus background radiation of laser amplifier is suppressed by subtraction of digital image of preceding frame generated with closed optical shutter from each frame of digital image of light guides generated with opened optical shutter.
