FIELD: high-purity materials technology. SUBSTANCE: impurities such as uranium and thorium radioisotopes and/or one or more their daughter radioisotopes are removed from titanium-containing material by bringing it into contact with one or more reagents at elevated temperature to facilitate access to at least one of daughter radioisotopes in titanium- containing material. Reagent(s) can be glass forming one(s) chosen to form phase at elevated temperature, which disperses on the surface of titanium-containing material and includes radioisotopes and at least one daughter radioisotope. Titanium-containing material can be, in particular, ilmenite, modified ilmenite, or synthetic rutile. EFFECT: enabled removal of uranium and thorium daughter radioisotopes. 29 cl, 22 tbl
