FIELD: thermal-to-electric energy conversion. SUBSTANCE: generator has plasma producing unit incorporating heater 1 and thermal-to-electric energy converter unit. The latter has gas channel 5 connected to nozzle 4 of plasma producing unit. Electrodes 9, 10 are placed at inlet and outlet of channel 5 and connected on external side of channel through interrupter to current supply. With pulse current passed through electrodes 9, 10, intermittent magnetic field is induced in magnetic core 6 placed around channel. Magnetic core carries inductance coil 7 connected to load circuit. Electrode 9 (anode) is placed at inlet of gas channel and electrode 10 (emitter), at its outlet. Emitter 10 is connected to ionizer 11 directed towards channel interior.
