FIELD: separation of two components of mixture of immiscible liquids, in particular, water or salt water and oil. SUBSTANCE: device for embodiment of the claimed method consists of hollow body with inlet hole for supply of mixture and outlet holes for removal of separated components; filter made of loose hydrophilic material in the form of fibers and located between inlet and outlet holes for separated water. Filter impregnated with pure water ensures passage through it mixture water component only while oil component of mixture is repelled from it. EFFECT: highly efficient method and very simple device provide for separation of mixture with very high selectivity and output. 31 cl, 1 dwg
