FIELD: high-voltage pulse engineering. SUBSTANCE: generator has grounded electrode that forms stepped line shorted out at input and made in the form of at least two series-connected sections of uniform distributed- parameter lines of equal electric length. Inner space of two first sections of stepped line accommodates high-voltage electrode that divides each section into two uniform lines. Voltage supply is inserted between high-voltage and grounded electrodes. Connected to output of stepped line are series-connected load and pre-pulse switching tube. One of ends of additional uniform line whose electric length equals that of stepped line sections is connected between high- voltage and grounded electrodes at point of connection of first and second sections of stepped line. Switching tube is connected on other end of additional line. Equations for selecting wave impedances of line sections are given in description of invention. EFFECT: improved generator output voltage with pulse shaped into matched resistive load at high efficiency of rectangular voltage pulse. 1 dwg
