FIELD: material cutting, namely, processes for cooling cutting zone, possible in different branches of machine engineering. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of feeding to cutting zone gaseous cutting fluid processed in field of corona discharge of ionizator; feeding cutting fluid to ionizator by pressure no less than 0.04 atm and forming stream of cutting fluid; setting length of stream at outlet of ionizator less than 30 diameters of stream. Such combination of pressure and length parameters of stream allows to optimize parameters of oriented flow of cutting fluid, namely it provides enhanced stability of stream relative to convection flows that may cause stream breakage. It provides formation of stable homogeneous oxide film on surface of cutting tool and worked surface. EFFECT: increased wear resistance of tool, lowered roughness of worked surface. 4 dwg, 2 ex
