FIELD: processing of materials. SUBSTANCE: method involves supplying cutting medium treated in ionizer in corona discharge field to cutting zone at speed at least equal to cutting speed. Corona discharge is excited by regulated current, whose value is varied in accordance with variation of flow rate of gaseous cutting medium. Apparatus has ionizer with casing provided with outlet nozzle. Ionizer casing is communicated with cutting medium source through main pipeline. Corona electrode disposed in casing is electrically connected with power source. Apparatus is further provided with regulator connected to cutting medium supply pipeline. Output current control device is connected to corona electrode current supply circuit. EFFECT: increased efficiency and simplicity of method. 3 cl, 1 dwg
