FIELD: machine tool manufacture, namely machine tools for turning railway road wheel pairs without wheeling out, possibly in machine engineering, car building. SUBSTANCE: supporting members are arranged onto guiding rails having vertical motion drive unit. Supporting members are in the form of driven hinged prismatic abutments. Centering devices are in the form of tailstocks mounted in machine tool with possibility of lengthwise motion and having centers self-centering in cross section and drive mechanisms for their moving. Locking devices of self-centering centers are arranged in tailstocks. Locking device is in the form of hydraulic cylinder. Wedge engaging with center is secured to rod of hydraulic cylinder. Slides are mounted in frame between worked wheels. Rotation drive mechanism of wheel pairs is in the form of end cone rollers with antislide coating and clamping mechanism. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of basing, reliability of drive unit due to absence of slipping between supporting driven rollers and surface of wheel bands. 5 cl, 4 dwg
