FIELD: railway transport. SUBSTANCE: in proposed method simultaneous frame-by-frame scanning of infrared radiation from wheelset unit members of train is carried out. Overlapping of thermal images of one and the same units operating in wheelset is subsequently provided. Overlapping is required to make invisible operating part of wheelset get into scanner visibility zone. Thermal field structure of wheelset units, thus obtained, is compared with mean statistical structure of wheel thermal field, with standard structure and with thermal field structure of defective wheel. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of checking in initial stage of development of trouble. 5 dwg
