TIMING GEAR DRIVE OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines; timing gear belt drives. SUBSTANCE: timing gear drive of internal combustion engine has driving shaft 2 with gear wheel 3, at least one driven shaft 2 with gear wheel 5 and serrated belt 1 passed over gear wheels. Working profile of at least one of wheels is made on ring member 6 mounted on wheel rim 7. Design peculiarity is that ring members 6 are of metallic permeable to gas porous gauze of fiber noise-and-vibration damping material. Ring member 7 can be installed for removal from rim 7. For this purpose spline joint is made on mated surface of ring member 6 and rim 7. Proposed drive is designed for passenger car engines with improved acoustic characteristics.
