FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines; timing gear and auxiliary mechanism drives. SUBSTANCE: cogged belt drive of internal combustion engine, timing gear drive in particular, has driving and driven pulleys over which cogged belt is passed and noise damping members. The latter are made in form of Helmholtz resonator formed by closed ring space communicating with atmosphere through holes and through clearance open at both sides and formed by top of belt tooth and space between pulley teeth. Resonator is turned to natural frequency of low form air vibrations in clearance. EFFECT: increased efficiency of noise damping, reduced material usage in making of pulley. 5 dwg
