FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: compositions which form noble metal films are useful for preparing decorative coatings from ceramic or glass substrates. The homogeneous composition comprises polymeric resin, 3-22 wt % of mercapto compound of gold, water and cosolvent. In this case, as composition gets dry on substrate and becomes gradually heated during roasting operation, water evaporates to form homogeneous composition of resin and mercapto compound of gold in cosolvent. Then, as cosolvent evaporates, it forms homogeneous composition of mercapto compound of gold in resin, and mercapto compound of gold decomposes to form gold, and resin evaporates simultaneously.
