METHOD OF PREDICTING EFFICIENCY OF TREATMENT OF PATIENTS WITH HYPOPHYSIAL SOMATOTROPINOMA Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

Abstract RU 2128344 C1

FIELD: oncology. SUBSTANCE: method can be used for diagnosing and determining individual ways for treatment of patients with hypophysial somatotropinoma and acromegaly syndrome. Performed are x-ray examination and biochemical analysis of blood serum to determine somatotropic hormone level. Analysis is performed at least twice to find average hormone level value. When this value is within the limits of 11 and 20 ng/ml, efficiency of radiotherapy is predicted, while this value between 21 and 30 is indicative of efficiency of combination of radiotherapy and drug therapy and value equal to and higher than 31 ng/ml evidences that radiotherapy is inefficient. Method increases accuracy of prediction and allows revealing group of patients in which irradiation of hypophysial somatotropinoma would lead to reliable clinic effect. Method also allows surgical intervention entailing high percentage of complications greatly annoying patients to be avoided. Method was applied on 103 patients and proved to be correct in 95% of cases. EFFECT: increased prediction accuracy. 3 ex
