METHOD OF DETERMINATION OF EFFICIENCY OF RADIATION THERAPY OF HYPOPHYSIS SOMATOTROPINOMA Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: medicine; applicable in dynamic supervision of patients with oxyphilic adenoma and acromegalia syndrome, who have undergone course of distant gamma-therapy. SUBSTANCE: method includes measurement of level of hydrocortisone in blood before administration of radiation therapy and in course of the second half-year after its termination, at least, two and four times, respectively. Obtained data are used for determination of average values of hydrocortisone before therapy Kin.av. and after radiation therapy Kav. , and if Kin.av is less than Kav., favorable outcome of therapy is diagnosed, and if Kin.av. exceeds Kav., low efficiency of radiation therapy is determined. Offered method allows change in a number of case of unfavorable prognosis of radiation therapy in patients with CТГ exceeding 50 ng/ml and provision of thermal of patients for whom surgical intervention and pharmacotherapy are contraindicated. Offered method ensures verification of efficiency of treatment in nearest terms after completion of radiation therapy and using the most optimal program of treatment. EFFECT: higher efficiency of treatment due to taking into account of individual radiation sensitivity of somatotropinoma to gamma therapy.
