FIELD: food-processing industry. SUBSTANCE: fryer has storage hopper, mixing chamber for receiving preliminarily measured amount of dehydrated food product, recovering its moisture content and thickening, piston for compressing food product with recovered moisture content and forced feeding it through die plate with openings to form separate lumps from thickened food product with recovered moisture content. Lumps of food product are settled into hot oil chamber for frying, dried upon termination of frying process and put into container for further consumption by user. Such construction allows fried potato lumps or pellets to be obtained. EFFECT: simplified construction and enhanced reliability in operation. 35 cl, 31 dwg
